Nothing to rave about... February 2, 2010 Jorge L. Vazquez (cincinnati,oh) I bought this knife based on the reviews that gave it such high praise but found it to be only average in quality and feel. One reviewer stated that it was not any good for survival (and I add for any real work of cutting/prying) but only for combat. Well how many of us buying this knife are looking to get into a knife fight with another human being any time soon? Exactly! I found it to be only adequately sharp out of the box. I too agree that the included stone is worth as much as a coke bottle top for sharpening. As far as holding an edge? Only high carbon steel is really known for holding an edge. That being said I still am giving this knife a 3 star rating based on the low price (around $22.00). I thought the rave reviews might be too good to be true and they were. In this case you get what you pay for. A $22 knife.
Solid knife, but the rubber handle wiggles February 1, 2010 Corey Scott (Rocklin, California, United States) This is a great knife, very sharp, and easy to keep sharp with the included sharpener. I am not sure that I like the handle, however, since the rubber handle is a little bit too loose to snuggly hold the metal inside, and it wiggles/rattles a little.
A combat knife not a survival knife. January 30, 2010 Kelly Lin This knife is designed to be a combat knife so I'll give it a 3 star for a survival knife, a 4 star for a combat knife.
The knife and sheath is well constructed, but the knife sharpener is a piece of junk.
As a combat knife:
Pros:
#440c stainless steel(which I like) is rust resistance and holds a useful edge.
#solid handle and finger guard,
#Double sided blade (backside is not sharp)
#Heavy duty coating
Cons:
#The tip is not narrow enough for good piercing attack.
As a survival knife:
#The powder coating puts too much friction for buttoning.
#double beveled edge. (single beveled edge is better for bush craft)
#heavy sheath - sometimes every oz counts.
Last words, this is meant to be a combat knife not a survival knife.
Small Issues January 27, 2010 James B. Rex (Tyler, TX USA) The hilt is a little loose on mine, otherwise it is a solid knife and a steal at the price. The two inches of sharpened edge on the top of the blade puts this in the dagger category in my state and thus illegal to carry. The length of the blade is ok. Check your state knife laws for specifics if you plan to carry this in your car or on your person.
GOOD KNIFE FOR THE MONEY January 7, 2010 William T. Fennell (THOMASTON, GA, US) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
TUFF KNIFE- STAYS SHARP, GOOD BALANCE NOT TO HEAVY. GOOD SHEATH ALSO. HAS MANY WAYS TO SECURE TO YOU OR YOUR PACK. VERY HANDY.
